Chadar Frozen River Exploratory Trek - 29 to 6 February 2012

Rs 19,950 per person (Leh - Leh)

Note: 2.58% service tax is payable on the trek fee

As part of the Indiahikes documentation project, we undertake exploratory treks on trails that are relatively unknown. It is a small team that is assembled together and led by an experienced trekker (from the Indiahikes team). The purpose of an exploratory trek is to document information about the trek. The collected information is then documented and uploaded to our online directory free for anyone to use. Each member of the exploratory trek team is assigned a role in the documentation process.

Exploratory treks are fun, thrilling and adventurous. In their exploratory nature they are uncertain too. Sometimes a day’s trek can be long and at times very short. The team pitches camp where they like and not at a predefined destination. Members of an exploratory trek are like free bird adventurists who set the path for future trekkers.

The Chadar frozen river trek is special. The condition does not allow for a team larger than 12. That’s why participating in the Chadar trek is by invitation only.

Whatever is the task assigned it is expected that you will execute the task satisfactorily.
4. An exploratory trek for a documentation project involves data collection. As part of the team you will be assigned a particular data collection job. For example, you may be asked to photograph the trail; or gather the names of the villages and streams that you cross on the way. Someone else may be asked to record altitude and temperatures on the trek.
5. The Indiahikes exploratory treks are non-commercial in nature. The fee charged help to recover the cost of the documentation process. Please do not expect undo luxury on the trek - however basic comforts will be well looked after.
