Bradsaar Lake Exploratory Trek - 23 to 31 October 2011
Rs 8475 (Dhaula to Jhakol)
As part of the Indiahikes documentation project, we undertake exploratory treks on trails that are relatively unknown. It is a small team that is assembled together and led by an experienced trekker (from the Indiahikes team). Each member of the exploratory team is assigned a role. For example, you may be assigned the task to photograph the trail; another may be assigned the task to gather factual details about the trek (names of villages, streams on the way).
Exploratory treks are fun, thrilling and adventurous. An exploratory team has a capacity of 15-20 members.
Criteria for selection for an exploratory trek team.
1.You must have done at least one Himalayan trek before.
2.You must be physically fit to do a 6-7 day Himalayan trek. The Bradsaar lake trek climbs to 14500ft. At this altitude the air is thin and the rigors on the body high. You must give yourself sufficient time to prepare yourself for the trek. We recommend a month long physical preparation program.
3. An exploratory trek is self-managed. Every participant is an equal member of the trek. You must be willing to undertake your part in the trek management. For example, you may be assigned the task of setting up camps, or you may have to look into transport arrangement. Someone else may look into expenses of the trek. Whatever is the task assigned it is expected that you will execute the task satisfactorily.
4. An exploratory trek for a documentation project involves data collection. As part of the team you will be assigned a particular data collection job. For example, you may be asked to photograph the trail; or gather the names of the villages and streams that you cross on the way. Someone else may get the task to record altitude and temperatures on the trek. Every member is expected to participate in the data collection activity. This is mandatory.
5. The Indiahikes exploratory treks are non-commercial in nature. The fee charged help to recover the cost of the documentation process. Please do not expect undo luxury on the trek -- however basic comforts will be well looked after.
6.Trekkers must reach the base camp of the trek at their own expense.
