Clean the mountains by joining Green Trail batches

As a part of our commitment to keep trekking trails clean, Indiahikes organizes the "Green trail" trek batches. The Green trail batches are special batches formed only to clean up our mountain slopes. The batches run like any other normal groups but with a key difference: trekkers who join this batch volunteer to clean the trail. The entire trek team - from trekkers to guides to helpers pick up litter along the route and bring it down from the mountains.

Nandikund is a beautiful high altitude lake located at 15748 ft. enroute to Madhyamaheshwar - Kalpeshwar trail. The trail commands a beautiful view of lush green meadows and the snow covered Chaukhamba group of peaks of and Mandani Parbat. It is a lake spread over an area of 1.5 km. This high altitude trek takes you over the high ranges without involving the glaciers or even snow if attempted in autumn.

The Darcha–Padum trek through the wilderness of Zanskar provides a rare opportunity to see some breathtaking landscapes, especially at higher altitudes. It generally takes 9-10 days to complete this trek which involves crossing the Shingo La pass (16700 feet). Technically this is called a moderate trek, but, unless you are a seasoned trekker or mountaineer, let me assure you that it is not easy to trek in that rarefied atmosphere. To complete it you will have to go beyond your limits of physical endurance.

Indiahikes document trails. If you have been on a trek and would like to document the trail then write to us. Indiahikes has the following honorarium for those who document trails:
1. Rs 3,000 for weekend trek involving 1 to 3 days
2. Rs 7,000 for a week long trek involving 4 to 8 days
3. Rs 10,000 for a trek spanning duration of 9 days or more
If you would like to contribute an account of your trek in the form of a trek diary, the honorarium is a Rs 1,000 trek voucher. For an interview, the honorarium is a Rs 2,500 trek voucher.
